Pondworks Complete

At last our pond is complete.   I had begun to wonder if we would finish it this year with the wet weather but it has been filled, the last coping stone has been laid and the fish are swimming :-)   The pond plants look very small, but have plenty of room to spread their leaves in the new year.

We still have quite a bit of landscaping to do and I admit I have hurried this, wanting to finish the replanting and clear some of the mud!   We have managed to spread the last heap (dumpy bag) of earth.  I am still amazed how much earth came out of the hole!  LOL.
We have built a frog ladder in the corner and will put the pump and filter in next spring.

Of course we are not the only ones to be pleased with our new pond :-)
And I know that some of you like herons!
But they are not welcome in our garden!  It is netted and the fish are not for breakfast!

We still have the little wildlife pond to attract smaller wildlife :-)

Dear Chris, Your pond has indeed been a major undertaking, but with such a wonderful result. It is certainly a large stretch of water and looks very attractive. When all is complete, you will have something of which you can feel very proud and your fish will have an exceedingly stylish home!

Hello Chris, congratulations on your pond completion! It is beautiful. The frog ladder is a great idea, too. I bet you are relieved to have it all done.

And I agree with you completely about the herons. They will eat every fish in your pond in a day if you don't have some way of deterring them. I look forward to future pictures of your new pond!
