Pondworks Update

Thank you to everyone for your comments and interest in our pondworks :-)
We are pressing on slowly, or rather HG and friends are :-)
I have become chief tea maker, watcher of grandad (trying to keep him out of harm's way), and constant cleaner of the kitchen floor.
Unfortunately there have been many showers and they are constantly covering and uncovering their work on the pond.   They have however finished the footings and have laid one layer of blocks today so it is moving in the right direction.
The pile of local stone, which previously edged our flower beds, will be used to face the ugly blocks.
On top of the work we have had a huge disappointment in that the pump which we took out of the old pond has broken and we have lost some of the fish.     I have had to buy an aeration unit to pump air into the tank.   Such a shame, it was quite depressing although we have managed to sort it and save the majority.
It is really good to see the pond take shape at last though :-)

Dear Chris, It is so exciting that you can see the shape of the pond emerging. It will indeed be much larger than your previous pond and will definitely make a statement in your garden when finished.

It is very sad about the fish but I am pleased that some were saved and a new all singing and dancing pump was probably needed for the much increased pond!

Hello Edith, thank you for your comment. You are right, of couse, a new pump is needed for the new pond.

Personally, I can't wait to begin replanting :-)

This is my first visit here, and congratulations on your new pond in the making. I remember the days of building ours, and all the work involved, but it will be worth it in the end. I look forward to following your progress!

I am anxious to see your finished project. We moved and had to put our fish in a livestock tank. The tank fouled because we didn't change the water, so make sure you change water frequently. You can send some rain our way. We are painfully hot and dry here in Colorado, especially for this time of year.

Chris, thank you for visiting my blog. I am especially fond of English gardens and yearn to return. I will savor your gardening until I can return to England. ann
