Pondwork Progress

We are having a day off today after all the digging and preparations this week.  My goodness, we don't remember that digging the first pond made us ache so much.   We must have been younger or something :-)

Anyway the old pond has been emptied, the fish placed in a large tank, rocks piled in a corner and all plants removed or potted ready for replanting later on.   Now we are waiting for the blocks to arrive.
We did find some fish, the heron had not had all of them.   Also loads of frogs, of course  :-)

Thanks to our friends who came to help and for keeping us sane :-)

NB   This is not an instruction on the best way to enlarge a pond :-)  only a record of our efforts :-)

Oh, this is grim news, for we have two water gardens to dig in our new Garden Spot. We didn't get around to them this summer. One will be a pre-formed pond that will go in our front court yard and the other we have not decided where to put it, probably 700-1,000 gallons. Our fish are residing in the neighbor's garden pond for the time being. I wish you well--take good breaks. I look forward to watching your project take shape.

Dear Chris, This looks like an enormous amount of hard work, but I am sure that the end result will be worth it. I look forward to reading of your progress but, do take every care as it is so easy to hurt oneself.
